Two principal passes in National Examination (applicants who complete high school in Rwanda, equivalent for foreign students) in the following:
- Basic education students must have an Advanced Certificate of Education Examinations with at least two principal passes with good grades in any of arts combinations with the following subjects: History, Economics, Geography, Literature in English, Mathematics and Accounting.
- TVET students must have earned at least two principal passes in the National Professional and Technical Examinations in any of the following options: Accounting, Business Services, Tourism, and Hospitality
Students must pass entry examinations in English, Cognitive Skills, Critical Thinking at a level of 60% or above
Upfront payment or show commitment to repaying a student loan after securing employment. Refugees in Rwanda and people with disabilities get full scholarship when they pass the admissions tests.

6. Tuition and Aid

For the upcoming intake, the annual tuition fee is 1,650USD for applicants within Rwanda, and 3,200USD for international applicants. This tuition covers access to modules, graduation and diploma fees, all Kepler College academic support, internet access, student support services including nurse and counselor, events, etc.
Rwandan applicants may select a 100% deferred payment (choose to pay with an interest after graduation and securing a jobs)
International applicants can only pay upfront
In addition, all applicants who are accepted and choose to enroll at Kepler College will be required to pay 40USD (paid in its equivalence in Rwf) annual registration fee to secure their spot.

All applicants are required to submit the following:

A letter addressed to the Director of UR Center of Postgraduate Center that must include:
Your track of choice;
Your full contact and programme details.
Updated Curriculum Vitae
A photocopy of academic transcripts and degree certificates
Two reference letters from senior academic referees

3. Selection criteria

The selection will be done through the assessment of submitted documents. Only applicants who meet the entry requirements as indicated will be selected.

4. Funding

The University will not give scholarships to admitted candidates. Candidates shall apply for scholarships elsewhere or can be self-sponsored.

Scholarship Details

In an effort to equip the Rwandan youth for self-employment, BPR Bank Rwanda in partnership with the National Youth Council is offering an opportunity for the youth to acquire vocational skills through a Scholarship programme dubbed IGIRE.

Selected students will be taken through a six-month accelerated training program where they shall be monitored and trained on different business skills. They will also be encouraged to prepare project proposals where the best projects will be given seed capital to start their own businesses

“Through the IGIRE program, we believe we will have a ripple effect as new SMEs will be born with the added benefit of employing even more youth,” Bank’ Managing Director, George Odhiambo.

During the opening event in 2022;

Odhiambo also noted that the number of university graduates annually is understandably higher than available jobs, not just in Rwanda but in Africa as a whole.

He added: “It is our hope to encourage the youth through these programs to become job creators rather than job seekers.”

Eng Diogene Murindahabi, Principal of IPRC Kigali who represented Rwanda Polytechnic (RP) during the launch said the students of IGIRE program will be studying at Kigali, Gishari, Ngoma, Huye and Karongi IPRCs. He noted that it’s the institution’s responsibility to train Rwandans who can stand out in the labour market.

He noted that compared to other TVET programs, Igire is unique for it only takes the students six months and helps them get hands-on skills directly without many theories, adding that when a student enrols in the program with a clear goal, they can have competent skills that can help them on the labour market.

STUDY OPTIONS AND DEADLINES

Deadline for the BPR BANK IGIRE SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION 2023 is Thursday, 20th April 2023.

Eligibilty and requirements

To qualify for IGIRE scholarships all applicants must fulfill the criteria below:

1. Be a Rwandan youth aged between 18 and 30.

2. Be a resident of the district where the training will be conducted.

3. Have at least completed secondary school or twelve years basic education in the last twoyears.

4. Have completed in a combination related to the course applying for.

5. Have not studied vocational training before.

6. Be unemployed and not in any other educational program.

7. Be available for a six-month TVET training program.

8. Be willing to refund 50% of school fees if you drop out of the program.

9. Provide a copy of your certificate of completion of secondary school or 12YBE.

10. Provide a copy of your ID card.

11. Have the capacity to cover food, transport, or accommodation during the training.

12. Observe regulations about the training program.

13. Be willing to open a BPR BANK Student Account once selected for the program.

Another Chance: For those od you who missed or who did not get accepted in IPRC this is another chance to reclaim your education status
Certificate Of Completion: you will get a certificate of completion which will be recognized by institutions and can hire you.
Business skills: You will be trained on different business skills so that you can start your own business. More students who finish this internship get to start their own business. We can take an example of Claude Byiringiro whose project was, in 201, selected among the best and received startup capital graduated in Culinary Arts through Igire program. He now runs a fast-food restaurant and a bakery in Rwamagana which he said attracts local and international customers.
WIN A STARTUP CAPITAL/ INITIAL FUNDING: After 6 months of training when your project is excellent and wins the competition you get a startup capital and all the money required in order to start your business

Attach passport size photo attached together with copies of National Identity card and certificate of their highest academic qualification.
There is also an option to submit your application to the nearest BPR bank branch.

NOTE THAT: Fill out the application form as clearly and as completely as possible. Only complete applications will be considered and admission into the programme is based on a competitive selection process. During submission of the application, candidates will be expected to submit a completed application form with passport size photo attached together with copies of National Identity card and certificate of their highest academic qualification. The candidates will also be expected to present originals of the above documents. Failure to provide these documents will lead to automatic disqualification.

Rwanda Polytechnic (RP) is delighted to have you admitted in BTech programs, intake of 2024.

As part of RP’s mission, we strive towards equal opportunities for all. After registration you download a proof of registration confirming you are a student at the University of Rwanda.

The announcement of the start of registration is announced in the acceptance letter you receive when you have been accepted to study at University of Rwanda.

The registration is done online but only after you have paid the 60,000Rwf for registration fees at Bank of Kigali branches. After that you log into your system and you can see the registration has been activated.

Registration is mostly the last step to you university education; as it is the process that confirms you are a current student of University of Rwanda. Here you accept the terms and conditions and letter you are given a student card.

Next steps: Application for loan for students who want to be funded by the government

Students who are financially unable to pay for them selves have an option to apply for a government loan. The loan is issued by BRD and processed by HEC. That is, HEC chooses students who are eligible for government scholarship and then passes them onto BRD so that they can receive the loan.

Loan applications are processed by HEC and issued by BRD
They are criteria needed to be eligible for loan

In the coming days they will release an announcement for the start of loan applications. The loan for UR students is issued by the Development Bank of Rwanda (BRD) and processed by HEC. HEC Higher Educational Counsil is an independent government agency established by the government to support the transformation of higher education in Rwanda.

Students apply through HEC and then HEC checks if they are eligible to get a government loan.

How to pay application fees for Rwanda Polytechnic IPRC using Mobile money and School Gear

Rwanda Polytechnic (RP) would like to inform all candidates who wish to study in its colleges (IPRC Kigali, IPRC Ngoma, IPRC Karongi, IPRC Huye, IPRC Tumba, IPRC Musanze, IPRC Gishari, and IPRC Kitabi) as Government sponsored and self-sponsored in the Academic Year 2023-2024, that the online application will start from 26th March to 26th April 2024.

After creating your account on Rwanda polytechnic system, you need to pay 5,000Rwf nonrefundable as application fees. In this guide I will show you two methods of payment, but the easiest one is to choose using mobile money.

Method1: Pay Using Mobile Money and School Gear

In this section I am going to show you how you can pay the 5000Rwf application fees using mobile money and school gear. Please make sure you do it on a simcard (MTN SIMCARD) with minimum of 5,600Rwf because they charge you 600Rwf more.

Step1: Dial *700# On your mobile phone

Use an MTN Sim Card with a minimum of 5600Rwf and dial *700# to open the school Gear system dashboard.

Step2: The school gear system will appear.

Step3: Input Your Reference number/Registration Number

Input your Rwanda polytechnic registration number starting with 24RP____ which is nine numbers.

Step4: You will see a screen to enter school code.

Step5: Enter Your School code which is RP.

For Rwanda polytechnic enter two letters RP for the school code as shown in the image below

Step6: You will se a screen that shows you the details of your application.

Step7: Press one to pay with mobile money.

Press one to pay with mobile money

Step 8: Check nd confirm details

Step9: Input your mobile money pin and continue the prompts

Step10: After completion you will see an SMS like this.

Method2: Pay On the Nearest Equity Bank Branch

You can also take your registration number to the nearest equity bank branch and then pay using money on your registration number.
