UNIVERSITY OF RWANDA ONLINE REGISTRATION, ACADEMIC YEAR 2024 -2025 FIRST YEAR UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS

The Management of the University of Rwanda (UR) invites first year Undergraduate students to register for the academic year 2024-2025. Registration is done online after paying the required fees, including the registration fees of 60,000 Rwf.

The online registration system will be open from 08th to 26th August 2024 and all first-year students must have registered by the set deadline. At each UR Campus, there will be a Computer Lab to assist you to register and a UR staff will be there to assist when deemed necessary.

The guidelines for online registration are published on UR website https://ur.ac.rw/ under Admission.

What you need to do before starting online registration

  1. Check the UR fees structure on the UR website to know the fees you need to pay before registration;
  2. Pay the required fees into the respective College account obtained at Bank of Kigali (BK) counter at any BK Branch by strictly using UR system generated reference number on “Urubuto system” or on Momo using code *775# and follow instructions;
  3. Have good Internet connectivity;
  4. Any technical problem should immediately be reported to the Registrar of your respective Campus.

2. Guidelines for Payment

a. Guidelines for payment through Bank of Kigali (BK)

Go to the nearest Branch of Bank of Kigali (BK) with your reference number and pay via Urubuto system. Please do not pay through BK Agents and Electronic payment as these are incompatible with Urubuto system.

b. Guidelines for payment using MTN Mobile Money

  1. Dial *775#
  2. Select “University” in the menu
  3. Select “Language”
  4. Select “University of Rwanda”
  5. Enter code (Reference number)
  6. Check and confirm whether the name of merchant is University of Rwanda and paying names are yours. If all are correct, select Yes to continue! If they are not correct restart the process again
  7. Select payment purpose and then undergraduate
  8. Enter amount that you want to pay
  9. Check the merchant’s name, paying names and amount to pay if they are correct and confirm
  10. Then go to pending approvals in your Momo as *182*7*1# and follow instructions

Academic Documents to be submitted by new students

Once registered, new students are required to submit the following academic documents to the Office of the Campus Registrar in the first week of lectures (2nd to 6th September 2024):

  • A certified copy of an Advanced Level Certificate of Secondary Education or equivalence for students whose certificates were obtained outside Rwanda;
  • A copy of the acceptance letter;
  • A copy of the National Identity Card or Passport;
  • A copy of valid Study VISA for foreign students;
  • One recent passport size colour photograph (40mm*40mm), format jpg.

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS TO STUDY BACHELOR OF TECHNOLOGY PROGRAMS AT RWANDA POLYTECHNIC ACADEMIC YEAR 2024-2025

The Government of Rwanda recognizes TVET as one of the central pillars of economic transformation and industrial development. The ministerial order N° 003/MINEDUC/2021 of 20/10//2021 determines the new Rwanda Qualification Framework which introduces additional qualification types of Bachelors of Technology (BTech) and Master of Technology (MTech) in TVET sub-sector that is meant to graduate highly competent workforce.

The graduates of these programs are expected to have strong technological and innovative ability to conceive, experiment, manipulate, prototype and deliver industrial concepts, products and services capable of catering to the evolving needs of society.

Available BTECH Programs In Rwanda Polytechnic 2024/2025

The management of Rwanda Polytechnic is pleased to invite applicants who completed their advanced diploma in seven following programs to apply for:

  • Bachelor of Technology in Food processing
  • Bachelor of Technology in Electrical Technology
  • Bachelor of Technology in Information Technology
  • Bachelor of Technology in Manufacturing Technology
  • Bachelor of Technology in Wood Technology
  • Bachelor of Technology in Construction Technology
  • Bachelor of Technology in Automobile Technology.

The application will be done online through https://mis.rp.ac.rw/applications from 15th July until 03d August, 2024

Requirements to apply in BTECH programs at Rwanda Polytechinc 2024

Interested candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Provide a proof of completion of the Advance Diploma (Certificate and Transcripts) in the similar program as listed above.
  • Proof of English proficiency for students who have background studies in a non-English system.
  • Foreigner candidates must provide an equivalence certificate provided by a competent organ in Rwanda.
  • Copy of National ID or a valid passport and notified copies of Advanced Diploma certificate and academic transcripts.
  • Payment of a non-refundable application fee of 5000RWF
  • Service certificate for applicants employed in relevant fields or teaching profession.

Note This

Note: The BTech programs shall be offered on a full-time (day) basis starting from September 2024. The selection and admission of applicants will be based on their academic performance. If deemed necessary, the admission board may conduct an entry examination.

The application process is described in the annex hereunder. After a successful application, a confirmation email with the application number will be sent by email address.

RWANDA POLYTECHNIC APPLICATION PROCESS 2024/2025: GUIDELINES AND PROCEDURES FOR ONLINE APPLICATION FOR BTech APPLICANTS

Step 1. Signing up and generating a registration number

Open the link: https://mis.rp.ac.rw/applications and click on Create an Account.

In the form provided, select Applicant category your country and A1 completion year

then click on proceed

In the form provided, type your A1 registration number that is written on your academic transcript.

Note: Make sure that the email is typed correctly, exists, and is accessible using the password you remember.

Step 2. Payment of application fees

After submission, you will be provided with an interface to pay application fees. Click on the Here as highlighted and follow the instructions.

Make sure that it matches your names, then confirm and complete registration

Make sure that the registration number matches your name before confirming with your MOMO PIN

Option 2: Dial *700# write your registration number, where the system requests for the school code you type in the word RP and follow the instructions→ confirm your payment on your MTN number.

Option 3: Applicants can also pay at any nearest EQUITY BANK branch by providing the Student Registration number to the cashier of that branch.

Step 3. Completing the application process.

Once payment is complete, refresh the page. Fill out the form provided and then click on submit.

After a successful application, an applicant is presented with the following interface showing his choices. In addition, an applicant will be sent a confirmation email.

RWANDA POLYTECHNIC FEES STRUCTURE

Rwanda Polytechnics (RP) is an umbrella organization overseeing eight Integrated Polytechnic Regional Colleges (IPRCs) strategically located across Rwanda. Each IPRC functions as a separate college, offering a range of technical and vocational training programs.

Understanding the IPRC Fee Structure

Now, let’s navigate the fee structure at IPRCs:

  • Application Fee: This one-time fee of 5,000 Rwandan francs (Rwf) applies to new students only.
  • Registration Fees: This annual cost covers your enrollment and varies depending on your student status. New students pay 50,000 Rwf, while continuing students pay a reduced fee of 25,000 Rwf. Note that if you’ve already paid the application fee, your first-year registration fee reduces to 62,000 Rwf.
  • Annual Fees: These include:
    • Student ID Card (2,000 Rwf)
    • Insurance (2,000 Rwf)
    • Occupational Hygiene (4,000 Rwf)
    • Students’ Union Fees (3,000 Rwf)
    • Library Fees (1,000 Rwf)
  • Tuition Fees: This applies only to privately sponsored students and is around 600,000 Rwf per year, payable in two installments.
